JOINT MEETING WITH THE COTSWOLD CLASSIC CAR CLUB
Chris Bates
Our first driving event of the new season was a great success with twenty members and twelve cars turning up on the 1st April at the Frog Mill Inn, Andoversford. This was a joint meeting with the Cotswold Classic Car Club, CCCC who had attracted a wide range of cars. Several of these are illustrated on the colour pages. Thanks to Sam Hindmarch-Bull for some of the photos.
The most valuable car there must have been a new, 56 plate, Bentley convertible. At the other extreme there were three Tatra 603s. According to one owner there are only 8 of this model currently on the road in the UK. The 8 cylinder air-cooled engines were of a very compact design. Apparently Roger McEwen had been given a taxi ride in one during a trip to Eastern Europe and was impressed. Nigel Ind was less keen on the design.
One car that took my eye was an immaculate Morris Minor with a pristine interior. It was great to see such a wide range of classic cars on a nice sunny afternoon. Just the right weather to give your TR a spin to get rid of some of the cobwebs that had collected over the winter.
The CCCC meet at 7pm on the first Friday of the month at the Frog Mill Inn. Contact their secretary on 01452 750505 for more details. The club has only just started and has currently about 20 members.
